In 1954, Charles Hailey began working in the oilfield with a company by the name of Read Drilling and Production. Charlie worked a variety of jobs in the "Patch". From operating a dozer cutting pads, drilling re-entries and new wells, whipstocking, sidetracking, case patches, squeeze casing leaks, section milling, fishing junk out of reentries, well servicing, frac work, secondary recovery, water and gas injection, to remedial work. In 1966, Charlie joined Hydrostatic Engineers. It was in 1979, that Charlie and his brother, Herbert Hailey left Hydrostatic Engineers to lay the foundations for their own company.
Together in 1980, they founded their own hydrostatic testing company and named it Testers Incorporated. With Testers Incorporated being more of a regional operation. In 1984, they decided to use their experiences and knowledge in the oil field to create their own line of downhole fishing tools, Hailey Specialty Tools was then founded. With the combination of new ideas, their own machine shop to assist in the research and development, Testers Inc. / Hailey Specialty Tools has a combined total of 24 U.S. and International Patents and does business worldwide.
In recent years, a new product called PolyboreTM has entered the oil and gas industry. Once again Hailey Specialty Tools has been a leader in the research and development of a complete line of successful downhole PolyboreTM fishing tools.
To keep up with the latest technology and needs of the oil and gas industry, Testers Inc. started offering electromagnetic testing as well as hydrostatic testing to their customers in 2000.
